Ultimo Science Festival program released
I love the Ultimo Science Festival. It just needed saying.
Thursday the 16th to Sunday the 26th of August see 11 days of science fun and learning coming to Harris St, Ultimo. There’s a cool line-up of talks, events and exhibitions. Some that caught my attention:
Living Data – Art from Science: three artists have been working with climate change scientists, data and modelling have been innovatively reinterpreted through artworks, offering imaginative ways to engage with climate change science.
Science of Chocolate Souffle workshop: find out why your complicated culinary experiments just never seem to turn out perfectly and take a fresh look through the eyes of a chef and a scientist. It seems to me this one goes particularly well with The Science of Coffee.
Forensics Lab Tours: Get behind the scenes in the world of forensics in this tour of the state-of-the-art UTS laboratories – might be especially pertinent if you get your souffle science badly wrong.
The Festival is huge and there really is something for everyone: From grown-up drinks to science story time for toddlers. The very full program is available on the website and for download. Shock, horror, there’s no app though – what were they thinking?
A number of events do require booking so don’t leave it until the last moment – but be careful if you are a Powerhouse Museum member to work out what you actually need to pay for, that information is very poorly presented.
Finally, if you’re very keen, the Festival is looking for volunteers to help with organisation.
