World Science Festival in Brisbane – lucky them but I’m jealous
Look I’m happy for Brisbane, I really am. Believe me I’m sure the World Science Festival will have a great time in Brisbane. I just can’t help but think that it would have been better off with us here in Sydney. Hey, the decision has been made and I respect that. But, really, Brisbane?
I feel like a jilted lover. I’m all jealous because Brisbane is getting the World Science Festival and Sydney is not. It feels like time and time again Sydney misses out on these sorts of events and I can’t help but feel that there is, at some material level of government, a lack of interest in anything that doesn’t involve a bat and ball. Even outside of events it still boggles my mind that we’re about to become one of the only major cities in the world not to have a centrally located science museum of note.
Anyway, the World Science Festival looks absolutely fabulous. And it’s in Brisbane. In March. So if you’re in Brisbane or can get there – lucky you – and you should take a look at: www.worldsciencefestival.com.au.
