Syrinscape game sounds – make your board games come to life

syrinscapeSyrinscape is a dynamic, never repeating, computer-generated, background music and sound machine designed to add atmosphere to your tabletop gaming experience. If you want sound with your games, you simply can’t go past Syrinscape. Oh, and to make it even more awesome in my eyes, it was made here in Sydney.

Syrinscape is “a revolutionary sound design app that adds evocative ambient background sound and a movie-like soundtrack to your tabletop gaming experience. Syrinscape conjures every aural landscape imaginable, from ethereal forests and stony shorelines to dank vermin-filled dungeons and the spooky depths of the underdark.” It really does all that.

Now it has to be said for it to work you need someone to drive the app, it wont just happen. But it’s such fun to do that finding a driver isn’t hard. Sometimes getting the driver to stop hitting the sounds is the hard part.

This is all the product of the fevered mind of the multi-talented Benjamin Loomes – a man with many strings to his bows. In another part of his life he teaches opera to school students; even, he tells me, ones who can’t sing. He’s also one of the players on the Dicestormers YouTube channel.

Anyway, a free version of Syrinscape is available on almost every platform you can think of and comes bundled with a couple of soundscapes. After trying it out, you can purchase additional sets of sounds. If you have a game that could benefit from the addition of scary music, screams, wolf-howls and the like – you know where to go.
