Azimov’s vision of 50 years ago
On a day when thousands gather in Washington DC to honour Martin Luther King’s dream for the future, our Senior Space Correspondent, Ian D, has pointed to another vision penned 50 years ago: Isaac Azimov’s thoughts on what the World would be like in 2014, penned after visiting the New York World’s Fair of 1964.
Azimov’s vision now seems quaint in so many ways, and amazingly prescient in others. There’s also a tinge of sadness in that he clearly thought we’d do better than we have. And in that, he’s similar to Martin Luther King – he hoped we’d have done better 50 years down the track.
You can read the full text of Azimov’s thoughts on the New York Times site here.
