What’s Next? A live show about the future
What’s NEXT? is a live show that brings the “brightest and most articulate scientific, innovative and comedic minds together to discuss what’s next in science, technology and engineering”.
American Nobel Prize-winning theoretical physicist Professor Kip Thorne will lead a panel discussion delving into how scientific advances will change how we live our lives and how the world we live in will change for ever. Kip Thorne will discuss the area of his Nobel Prize work: the past, present and future of gravitational wave research and multi-messenger astronomy, their remarkable technology, and their future impact on human understanding of the universe in which we live.
Joining Kip Thorne will be astronomer Professor Alan Duffy and Robin Ince, co-host of The Infinite Monkey Cage.
Prof Kip Thorne is an American theoretical physicist and Nobel laureate, known for his contributions in gravitational physics and astrophysics. He was one of the leading experts on the astrophysical implications of Einstein’s general theory of relativity.
I can only applaud the organisers’ enthusiasm in saying:
As the world lurches towards an era of alternative facts, it is imperative for us to have a critical understanding of many emerging technologies, innovations and scientific endeavours that will determine what’s likely to happen NEXT. From the way businesses will run, the way we live our personal lives, to the way we get about, communicate, combat pandemics or save the planet.
It’s all happening in Sydney at the State Theatre on Wednesday 19 September. Tickets, at the usual prices, available here.
