Debating the greatest unsung scientists

You don’t have to be Einstein to know that some scientists are more famous than others. The Science Nation will shine the spotlight on the forgotten scientists of the past with a debate tournament to see who is the greatest unsung hero of all. “With additional rounds of improvised, audience-inspired, topics this Great Debate is 90 minutes of science and laughs that promises to be fun for people of all ages.” These debates are always entertaining and, if absolutely nothing else, completely shatter the myth of the boring, retiring scientist.

Debaters competing for glory in Sydney include: statistician and model(ler) Dr Craig Anderson; anthropologist, evolutionary scientist and science communicator A/Prof Darren Curnoe; biologist, social insect enthusiast and defender of science Dr Marianne Peso; veterinarian, neuroscientist and surf life saving volunteer Prof Jacqueline Philips; physicist, freediver and mountaineer Dr Peter Rohde; physicist, science communicator and Science Nation founder Dr Andrew Stephenson; and chemist, science communicator, host of Up and Atom, and Sydney’s reigning Great Debate champion Dr Alice Williamson; with another speaker to be announced.
