NSW Board of studies is looking for a Chief Digital Officer

bostesThe NSW Board of Studies is recruiting a Chief Digital Officer.

The Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES) is a statutory authority responsible for the curriculum, assessment, teacher accreditation and regulatory standards in NSW schools (Kindergarten to Year 12).BOSTES is also responsible for developing policies and initiatives for evaluating and improving student learning performance across all schools and school sectors.

The Chief Digital Officer will lead the introduction of digital technologies to drive innovation across the organisation in the areas of curriculum, teaching, assessment and registration and accreditation.

According to IT News the new CDO will also be appointed to the project team responsible for the ongoing redevelopment of the organisation’s web presence. BOSTES is also eyeing an expanding use of mobile apps to support NSW school students through their statewide assessments. It has already released the HSC Test Yourself and HSC Exam Workbooks apps to Apple and Google Play app stores.

While this isn’t a new position, but it would seem that BOSTES has enormous potential to make far more effective use of technology than it has to date and it’s the sort of role where the right person could have a significant impact.
