Warden: Melody of the Undergrowth, looking like a lovely locally developed game

wardenCardboard Keep is a Canberra-based game-design group who’s first major project is the luscious-looking Warden: Melody of the Undergrowth.

Warden is “a third-person action-adventure game in which you control the ethereal Warden Spirit, who shapeshifts into the form of Wardens; children called to by the forest – each bringing with them a unique power. You explore a world where the relationship between nature and mankind has been upset, and must bring a new balance to the world. To complete your quest, you travel through many varied environments, including thick forest, overgrown ruins, windy mountaintops and a mighty fortress. You face hostile creatures, ancient traps and curious magical forces, utilising the powers of each Warden to overcome challenges. In order to survive in this unbalanced world, your combat, platforming and puzzle-solving skills will be put to the test.”

It all sounds rather good. Good enough in fact that it has been Greenlit on Steam. That’s a cool achievement for anyone, but perhaps especially for a local developer. It is really great to see more interesting games being developed in Australia.

Warden is due for release early this year. If you want to learn more or keep an eye on development take a look at their website: warden-game.com.
