Star Wars Day and the cost of Jabba’s hut

jabbashutJabba the Hutt actually lived in a palace rather than a hut. The folk at movoto have done their usual thoughtful investigative job in determining a value for that palace. So in honour of Star Wars Day – May the 4th – that value is $44 million, or a little more than 72 million galactic credits.

They have a nice infographic explaining how they worked it all out.

I’m always reminded at this time of year about the first recorded use of the May the 4th be with you line. When Margaret Thatcher was elected Britain’s first female Prime Minister on May 4, 1979, her party placed an advertisement in The London Evening News that said: “May the Fourth Be with You, Maggie.”
