Mineapalooza 2014: Sydney’s Minecraft festival might be huge

mineapaloozaMineapalooza 2014 is coming to Sydney on the 20th – 22nd of June 2014. The organisers describe it as a ‘Minecraft inspired community celebration’ and ‘the first community driven event of its kind in Sydney’ and ‘the largest Minecraft festival ever’. They say it will feature a Minecraft inspired variety of panels and exhibitors.

Reading between the lines it appears to be a Comicon-style event for Minecraft made by Americans and aimed solidly at Sydney – but it’s really hard to pin down exactly what it’s all about. The website links to the ticket sales which link to the Youtube channel and all talk about it being available rather than what is actually going to happen. The strongest indication of what’s going on comes from the blog of the person doing the day-to-day organisation.

This is one of those things that could be huge or could sink without a trace – hopefully we’ll hear more soon. Tickets are now on sale, but personally I’d like some more details before handing over $150.
