How your political beliefs change your mathematical ability

This is an interesting video from the excellent Numberphile on how your political biases can change the way you tackle a maths (or presumably by extension scientific) problem. My potted summary: If the numbers seem to reinforce your existing opinion you just accept them and don’t bother doing the maths properly.

Although this has wide applicability and applies to anyone on the political spectrum, it certainly provides an interesting lens through which to view the way people misinterpret the numbers involved in global warming.
