Robowars: Combat robots are coming to Sydney

Robowars is coming to Sydney on 3 and 4 August. Robot combat pits two radio controlled machines against each other in a three-minute fight to the death in a specially constructed arena.

The event is being crowd-funded on Pozible and is already over halfway to its funding target of a very reasonable $2800. Backing the project can get you ‘how to’ videos on how to build a robot and entry into the competition.

This is the first event of this scale in Sydney and it looks like it will be amazing. There’s nothing I can see detailing access to the event, ticketing, etc – I’m hoping we’ll know more about that soon.

Quite aside from everything else I love the $100 backer award on Pozible in which they’ll take any surplus small appliance you have, smash it up with robots and return the bits to you in a bag. Ah, robot mayhem humour.

Hey Mate, this is Angus I’m the guy organising Robowars Sydney 2013. Event access is going to be free, and it’s going to be held at 107 projects which is an arts/community space near Redfern in the city. We want to encourage as many people as possible to come watch and get involved (till we reach the room limit anyway)! Thanks for the post 🙂
