If you like Tintin you’ll like Rocket Robinson

Rocket Robinson and the Pharaoh’s Fortune is a graphic novel adventure story chronicling the exploits of 12-year-old adventurer Ronald “Rocket” Robinson. It’s set in 1933 in Cairo and is a classic romp involving menacing thugs, curious puzzles and nail-biting escapes. Better yet if your family, like mine, has read Tintin a thousand times, Rocket is all brand new material.

Rocket is a work in progress. Sean O’Neill adds a page each week to the story and they are available free from his website: they look great on screen and fabulous on an iPad. Currently the story is up to Chapter 7 and it just keeps getting better. The Rocket story is recommended for children aged 8-12, depending on their reading level, but it’s content is appropriate for all ages. I started reading it with my kids but must admit I look forward to my weekly dose of Rocket’s adventures.

I’ve found that the simplest way to stay aware of new pages being published is to join the Rocket Robinson Facebook page or the Twitter feed. You’ll then be notified as each new page of Rocket Robinson goodness gets published.

And while we’re sort of on the subject of Tintin I’ve just found there is an official supplier of Tintin merchandise in Australia: Pink Bear merchandise.
