Walk around the Harbour for science

What better way to support science than go for a walk around beautiful Sydney Harbour?

This Father’s Day, Sunday 2 September, you can do an 11km hike around the Harbour foreshores to support the Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS). The walk starts under the Harbour Bridge at ends at the Institute in Chowder Bay.

SIMS is doing some wonderful work on not just the Harbour but our more general marine environment. A lot of their current research is on pollution and the effects of marine warming. It’s a worthy cause to go for a walk for.

A marine-themed festival at the finish line at Clifton Gardens Reserve will await hikers completing the walk. The Festival is free and open to all members of the public from 11am-4pm – so if you’re feeling lazy you can be there to greet the rest of us arriving. There’s even a free ferry service available to transport walkers back to Jeffrey Street Wharf, Kirribilli.

Full details of the SIMS Harbour Hike, entering a team and getting sponsorship can be found here.
