It’s a Sci Fight in Sydney

Science comedy debate Sci Fight is coming to Sydney.

The debate is a fun and informal way for scientists and comedians to take to the stage and wax lyrical using evidence, quips, and slander as they beg to sway the audience on side with their point of view.

In Sydney, the proposition is: ‘Seeing is Believing’. If science is based on that which can be observed, must we discount all that can not be? If we had to discount that which is not observable, would quantum physics even be a science?

How do we know what is real and what is not? Us science-folk like to pin our beliefs on hard evidence. We want to see it with our own eyes. But there are plenty of things we believe in that we’ve never seen. The moon landing. Manatees. A million dollars. We are comedians, after all. Watch six highly professional comedians and scientists disappear down a rabbit hole of existential enquiry into the the known unknowns, unknown unknowns, and why there are no stars in those photos of the moon landing.

Looks like some good science-y fun.
