Geeky school holiday activities for Summer 2015

holiday-300x150Once again school holidays are upon us and here’s the list of  activities that have made their way through my inbox recently. Strangely the options have actually narrowed since the September school holidays, but there’s still some wonderful things to do.

=> Thinkspace at the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences (that was The Powerhouse) has its usual fabulous range of workshops.  As always the range of activities is both exciting and varied. I really can’t recommend the Thinkspace courses highly enough. They’re also one of the few places to offer courses designed to appeal to kids into the mid-teens.

==> The CSIRO is running a rather interesting looking science bootcamp in Sydney.

=> Centennial Park, Sydney Olympic Park and a range of vacation care venues are running the always popular Fizzics Education programmes.

=> On the North Shore, Professor Plums is running science and robotics workshops during the holidays.

=> Still on the North side, Code4Fun has a series of one-day workshops for Year 2-5 students at the Mosman Art Gallery.

=> The Australian Museum is running its usual range of holiday activities, including Scientist for a Day.

=> AIE has some interesting workshops for teenagers that tend more towards the animation and design end of the spectrum.

=> Codecamp is running its various coding workshops centered around creating an app – in a range from beginner to experienced. Codecamp has is now running courses all over Sydney.

=> GirlCode is running workshops for girls in a variety of venues around Sydney and the Central Coast.

As always, if you know of anything I’ve missed anything feel free to let me know.
